Stuck on what to plan for your holidays and vacations this year? Well, the good news is that there are countless types of trips that could tick all of your boxes – you just have to settle on one. Rather than focusing on destination, you can often help to whittle down your options by considering the type of getaway you’re looking for. This will allow you to determine what you’re looking for in your break and can then help you to browse specific locations that might cater to your needs. Here are some suggestions that could prove enjoyable!
Beach Holidays
The first type of getaway to jump to many of our minds is a beach holiday. Being cooped up indoors over the past couple of years hasn’t been ideal for anyone and has seen many of us experiencing high levels of stress. This is before we even consider fear of the virus, loss of work, children being off school, caring for relatives or loved ones and more. Now that restrictions have lifted, a beach holiday could be the perfect solution to easing your worries. It’s the perfect opportunity to kick back and relax. There are countless destinations around the world, from somewhere relatively local to you to a full blown international flight destination. Consider your budget and choose something that works for you. Also consider accommodation. You can often go all inclusive, enjoying all your food and meals being prepared for you, or you could choose self catering so you choose your own restaurants and cafes to dine at. There’s also often the choice of half board, where you can be flexible between the two.
City Breaks
City breaks offer the opportunity to explore major cultural sights and attractions. Make sure to pack some good walking shoes, as you’ll likely be walking a lot to get from A to B, even with great public transport systems like the tube or metro at hand. Major cities like London, Paris, Barcelona, Lisbon, Athens, Rome and more offer countless opportunities to enjoy yourself. Consider the weather in each location at different times of year, as this will ensure that you choose somewhere with weather that you’re comfortable with. Some people prefer to avoid cities in the sweltering heat, others prefer this. Looking for night life? Well, how about a hotel with a rooftop bar? This can allow you to enjoy a drink in a nice atmosphere without having to stray far from home, or serves as the perfect spot to start a bigger night out.
Ski Breaks
Prefer the colder weather and outdoor activities? A ski break could prove better for you. Ski breaks generally involve staying in resorts or cabins in mountainous locations with plenty of snow. Of course, if you’re going to ski, make sure to do so in a resort, where your activity and safety can be monitored and where you can receive professional guidance on specially chosen slopes.
These are just a few suggestions. There are, of course, many more types of breaks out there. But hopefully, some of those outlined above will serve as inspiration!
