My 2020 Goals

31st December 2019

This is probably one of my favourite things to do and to look back  on my blog and remember things I normally wouldn’t. It’s especially fascinating to revisit at the end of each year and it’s such a good feeling to tick them off but more importantly to see where my head was at and how our path can change.
Last year, we were looking at moving house, but it was only at the end of the year that we made serious steps to make it happen and I know that 2020 it really will be in place.

The usual weight/fitness ones always remain, but it’s good to look to the future with a fresh page about to start, not only with a new year but a brand new decade. So here are my 2020 goals:

  1. Move house

As I touched on above, I know that following a meeting with our mortgage adviser who helped us move back in 2015, we wanted to see if moving was ever going to be viable or if we could look at possibly extending our currently house. Our main motivation for moving is so that the girls have their own room. I think given the fact they are together 24/7 means that they more than most siblings will really crave their own space. They have to share EVERYTHING – from silly things like socks and pants, to toys to sleeping in bunk beds; they don’t have anything that is really their own. They keep each other awake chatting and when hormones descend and the inevitable “I hate being a twin” comes into play,. i would love for them to have their own space to head off to.
We were given the green light and will probably hold out until tax returns in April, which will enable us to maximise our borrowing so it’ll be a very interesting few months which will see more glued to Rightmove no doubt!

  2. Walk 22 Miles

I have never done our local charity walk that happens in our town every May. I have done the Junior walk many times when I was younger, but never entered for the adult one I’m not going to lie I hate walking. I find it incredibly boring as you never see to get anywhere but I have decided that this will be the year that I am going to do it. I need to actually START walking but I know the fact I will be walking for the charity who supported my Mom in her last few months will get me through.

  3. Gym Classses

Ok OK I am sure you could read most of my “goal posts” and going to the gym and eating better is going to be on every single one, but since September, for the first time since my exercise/health kick which I started back in 2016 I have signed up to classes – and actually go to them! I often get quite bored just exercising on the machines in the gym, so doing classes where I feel and know I have worked has been brilliant. I really enjoy body pump and love feeling stronger as it is predominantly weights based class. I like the feeling of getting stronger and my focus has shifted from being skinny to being strong.

  4. Volunteer

I did actually volunteer at our local NCT classes for a few months, but other work commitments meant I couldn’t attend any longer. I have been able to fit volunteering in at the kids school with going in and reading with them for an hour once a week after drop off. I’d like to in 2020, extend this more to animal charities. We have started sponsoring a cat from our local cat rescue centre, and have been over a few times to see her and the others. The girls also had a chimpanzee sponsorship off us for Christmas at Monkey World, so it’s nice to be helping where we can. I have committed to regularly donating tot he food bank which I have done on and off for years. I really would like to go and volunteer at a cat or dog shelter and think I will follow this up next year.

  5. Enjoy our trips

We have booked to go down to Dorset in April for 5 days in the Easter holidays which I can’t wait for. We are also going to buy our very own Merlin Passes in the January sale which will see us planning little trip[s all around the country across the year to visit new spots and utilise them as best as possible. If I had written this post a few days ago, I wouldn’t have been able to write this but on Christmas Day my husband pulled off the biggest surprise I think I’ve ever had (bar a proposal!) and presented me with tickets for a Christmas trip to New York next December. I still am in complete shock and over the moon. For as long as I an remember, New York has been top of my list so the sheer thought of going is enough to make me pop let alone actually going. I really married such a bloody awesome human!

There we have it. Quite how I have just written another post like this I’ll never know, but here I am on my little blog six years on still tapping away. It’s good to be back.

B xx

    Good luck with your goals!
The walk sounds like a great cause to support.
Happy new year and wishing you all the best for 2020 x

Good luck, we recently went through a house move to maximise space we really needed. With four little ones I know exactly what you are going through.
