Pregnancy is one of the most surreal things you can experience in your life. You somehow manage to create a whole human, complete with blood, organs, skin, hair, fingernails, bones etc… Or in some cases – you do this twice at the same time! It really is rather mind-boggling. Don’t worry, I’m not going to get all scientific on you in this post…this is me we are talking about! I think back to our second scan with the girls. My first scan was the day after Charlie’s 4th birthday which I can remember as clear as day dragging myself to the…

As we rapidly approach the girls third birthday, the differences between them become more apparent each day. Gone are the days where I could choose their clothes, and cutesy them up in matching clothes. Now independence reigns supreme and my identical twins couldn’t be less identical if they tried. They look completely different and act completely different but still somehow they are confused on a  daily basis. I know that this is going to happen forever more and in time they too will come to learn that that comes with being a twin. Hell, I am almost 4 years younger…

My life seems to be full of clichés from strangers. As a parent of twins, I have pretty much heard every twin one going (double trouble/got your hands full etc etc) But as they’ve gotten older and dress so differently, I have a new range of probing questions. Bearing in mind my girls for ONE MORNING a week…I don’t even get to eat  lunch in that time slot. But apparently when you get three whole hours once a week you’re a lady of leisure. The amount of times people instantly ask the following, surely I can’t be alone?    Are you going…

“Double trouble” “Twice the work” “Gruesome twosome” “Terrible twos” Yes, having twins really allows people to wheel out all the double act clichés and let them walk away thinking they are HILARIOUS all whilst I grit my teeth and grin as I’ve already heard them ten times today, but having two toddlers that are two? Wow, folk can really go to town! But honestly? The terrible twos time two scared the bejesus out of me. That and potty training (which we will not mention) oh and chicken pox. I am blocking those out. But the terrible twos are the notorious age where your…

21st January 2013. Three years ago today. My expanding unknown twin bump was about to become that little bit more personal. My husband was adamant from way before we even conceived that he didn’t want to know the gender. He wanted a surprise and I respected his wishes. I’m the complete opposite and like to know so I can plan, organise and know baby that little bit more.  As soon as we were told we were expecting twins all that changed. Excitement took over and we knew with two that we would want to be able to plan so finding…

Two bundles of pink – how utterly blessed I am! After having a son, I could not believe it when I found out I would have not just one daughter but two! Fast forward two years and I’m a lot greyer, have the biggest eye bags and am exhausted 24/7 but I still can’t quite believe that I have twins. And not just twins, twin GIRLS! After having a male dominated household that was turned on its head with the 2:1 boy ratio going to a 3:2 majority I’ve learned a few things about twin girls. Sure there’s a gazillion…

Today you two are two. Two years ago the two of you were about to make your grand appearance and turn our worlds on its head – and complete our family and let my heart grow more than I ever thought possible. Two years ago your Daddy and I woke up super early. I was not allowed to eat or drink which you know for Mommy is bloody hard but especially when pregnant! We drove the 20 mile trip to the hospital full of nerves and excitement. I remember looking across the fields to spy another blisteringly hot day on the…
