The girls were very kindly sent a Barbie Dreamtopia Styling Head to review from Just Play/Flair. They both have had a few Barbies in the past so are familiar with the iconic lady herself. In the last few months, they seem to be more interested in playing with dolls and dressing them up. My littlest especially is fascinated in watching me do my hair and make up so she was very eager to open up the styling doll and try it out.

Barbie Dreamtopia Styling Head Review

I fell in love with Barbie’s bubble-gum hair colours as were the girls who thought she looked like a unicorn, which I have to admit I really liked their analogy! She came with her hair in two side braids. With two daughters who have just started school, I am tempted to use the head to practise hair styles on myself as I am pretty pants at doing girls hair!

The Barbie styling head itself measures around 22cm and comes with 20 hair related accessories including a pink hairbrush, clips and hairbands. She has a sparkly top and a star necklace printed onto her neck. The styling head also rotated 360 degrees and moves up and down which is handy with two four-year olds who like to maul toys.

Barbie Dreamtopia Styling Head Review

My only criticism would be that the doll isn’t very sturdy. As it’s so lightweight, I found when the girls tried to brush her hair with some force she moved around a lot. I’d love to see little sticky feet or small suction cups on the bottom to try to stop this. Saying that, the girls didn’t really seem to agree with me as they liked being able to pick her up and move her around freely, so perhaps it’s more of a personal preference.

Barbie Dreamtopia Styling Head Review

The Barbie Dreamtopia Stylist Head has an RRP of £19.99 and is available from Very.co.uk and is suitable for children aged 3+. It is part of the Barbie range available from Just play including the Barbie Deluxe Colour Specialist Styling Head (you can read review of this product by Dear Bear and Beany )

They have enjoyed playing hairdressers and even have mastered the art of salon chit chat as well as creating some wacky hairstyles indeed. I just hope they aren’t like me as a kid and stay away from the scissors. Many of my Barbies ended up with a crew cut so I’ll be hiding the scissors for the foreseeable future! There are lots of clips and bands to be able to make lots of different styles. The girls liked the colourful changeable barrettes that can be put in the middle of the clips. Just makes sure you have somewhere safe to store them as they are quite small so could easily get lost. Make sure they’re also kept well away from little people who like to put things in their mouth!

Barbie Dreamtopia Styling Head Review

As we reach mid September, I know Christmas (sorry!) is starting to enter peoples heads in a bid to be organised and I think this will be a popular one this Christmas with Barbie fans everywhere as it is a really reasonable price for a good sized toy.

It’s been a while since we have reviewed any toys here on Twinderelmo, so when Rainbow Designs offered to send us a Cycling Paddington plush to review, I had some very excited little monkeys.

cycling paddington

My Mom was a huge Paddington Bear fan and I remember fondly her huge toy one who used to sit on her chair in her bedroom. We often used to read Paddington stories together and my own children loved the film that was released in 2014. It was a much watched film on our holiday that year in Dorset and Charlie was excited when he saw the trailer for Paddington 2 which is due out later this year.

Paddington is 35cm high and requires 2 x AA batteries. When we got our out of the box, I turned him on and he started playing the music but did not pedal. I wondered if we hadn’t activated something but after a while we realised, he simply needed new batteries as he wasn’t working. As soon as we switched over the batteries, he was off playing his catchy little tune and cycling all over. He pedals in all directions so will keep changing. He works best on a flat surface and needs a bit of space to be able to cycle to his hearts content.

My only critism is that he only plays one song, I personally would like a few different ones as it can get a bit repetitive but that is my view – and not one shared by my girls. I love that he hasn’t been changed and still waers his famous red hat and blue coat which makes him instantly recognisable.

Cycling Paddington has an RRP of £29.99 and is suitable for ages 3 years and over. He is on sale now at Argos. You can’t help but fall in love with this iconic bear.

I am excited to be able to give one lucky Twinderelmo reader the chance to win a Cycling Paddington for themselves. All you need to do is complete the RaffleCopter below. Open to UK residents aged 18+ only. Prizes will be sent directly from Rainbow Designs. Ends midnight 20/8/17. For the past few weeks, my girls have been trying out two new Cosatto car seats. I have decided to do an individual review of the seats then a comparison, so look out for these over the next week. So I am starting today with the Cosatto Skippa Fix.

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

Cosatto to me are such a fun, funky vibrant brand so was honoured to be chosen to work with them. I get comments daily on how unique my girls sense of style are so I knew Cosatto was the perfect brand for us. Life is too short to be boring so the bolder the print and brighter the colour to me is an instant winner. The Skippa Fix comes in a choice of three prints; spectroluxe which is a bright diamond pattern, rev up which is a cute car print and the magic unicorn print which is the one we chose.

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

The Skippa Fix is a forward facing car seat for older toddler/children as it is a Group 2/3 car seat which means it is suitable from 15kg – 36kg which is approximately 4-12 years of age. Here are the tech spec of the seats (taken from the Official Cosatto site)

  • Use with your regular car seat belt.
  • For even more peace of mind pop it into your car ISOFIX points.
  • Uses ISOFIX points only, not the top tether attachment.
  • Side impact protection with luxury padding.
  • Removable drinks holder.
  • Easy to install.
  • Compatible with standard 3-point vehicle seat belts (‘Universal Fit’).
  • ISOFIT – Compatible with your 3-point vehicle seat belt & your car’s ISOFIX anchor points at the same time (‘Semi Universal Fit’).
  • 2-position recline. For a laid-back journey.
  • Height adjustable backrest.
  • Pop-off washable fabric covers. You’ll thank us.
  • Complies with European Standard ECE R44/04.
  • FREE 4 year guarantee.

My first impressions of the car seat were that it felt sturdy and wasn’t too heavy to lift. The seat came in one part with the isofix adapters separately. The cup holder is easy to install and to remove, but would say that it does add extra width onto the seat. At the weekends when going out, Charlie uses the middle seat so every few centimetres make the difference!

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

We tried the seat with and without the isofix as our car is isofix compatible. Personally I would definitely recommend using it with the isofit system as it gives a solid feel. It’s really simple, they literally slot into place. The adapters come in a separate little bag incase you do want to use them – they are bright yellow so easy to spot. The seat does not move and whilst it can make it a little fiddly to plug the seatbelt in, but safety first and I like knowing that a car seat is solid and will not wobble side to side. Obviously the recline will not work fully when the isofix is in place, so if you have a child that loves a kip, this is something you may want to consider. I know that Charlie’s old seat didn’t recline and he used a neck pillow which really helped him. Luckily, my girls aren’t really car sleepers (they don’t sleep at all, ever!!) so this won’t be an issue for us.

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

The seat has lots of growing room (it is designed to go up to approximately 12 years of age) and the headrest is easy to move up as the child grows. There is a good amount of space sideways too so I can see it being comfortable for the foreseeable. The cover is also machine washable which as a parent is always something that is an essential as kids are prone to making a mess!

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

I was impressed with the padding around the head and side. It’s never anything you want to think about, but lots of cushioning around the head area in a car seat is obviously very important and it also give the child a nice comfy ride. My only slight criticism would be that the seat that they sit on could do with slightly more padding, which is in contrast to the head area. It is fine now whilst they are at the lower end of the seat, but as they grow and weigh more I do wonder if they will wear out the padding and not make it very comfortable to sit on.

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

It is incredibly easy to install into the car and not too bulky or heavy to move around easy, so if you’re likely to be transferring it o different vehicles I think it is easy enough to swap. The three point seat belt is very simple and the belt tucks away nicely onto the side of the headrest. There is one either side so you can put the seat in either side of the car and won’t have to fiddle around.

Cosatto Skippa Fix Car Seat Review

All in all, I am incredibly pleased with the car seat. Not only does it feel safe and secure but it looks incredibly awesome too. I have had numerous compliments on it and know how much the girls love their choices. Cosatto are a well established trusted brand and I have full confidence, along with the four year guarantee, that the seat will see us through as it feels a brilliant quality. The car seat comes with an RRP of £169.95 and is available from various major car seat stockists.

Keep your eyes peeled for our flamingo themed Cosatto Zoomi review coming next week.

Pink and gold are such on trend colours at the moment so I was thrilled to be sent a lovely treat from the folks at Pia Jewellery. They sent me a beautiful faceted rose Quartz Ring. I don’t often get bought jewellery namely as I’m quite fussy. I like quite big and bold items, whilst being classy and versatile so I can match them with various outfits. This is why I was a little in love when the ring arrived.

Pia Jewellery

I absolutely love how bold yet understated it is and the large stone instantly drew me to the ring. It came in a gorgeous little purple presentation box. The ring is very shiny and looks so feminine. I don’t think I will use it as an everyday ring as it’s a little large but I think it will be perfect for when I am going out.

Pia Jewellery
You will need to know your or the person you are ordering if for, ring size. There are other items to match the ring including a necklace and earrings so you could treat someone to a full set. With Mother’s Day just round the corner, it’d make a great gift.
Pia Jewellery I was also chuffed as it matches my nail varnish! Small things hey?!
Pia also sell bags, clothing and accessories such as scarves not just jewellery. They also offer worldwide delivery with costs starting from £3.99.

Trying to get kids to brush their teeth can be somewhat of a battle, so having something fun, interesting and inviting never harms the cause.

Jack N'Jill

We were kindly sent two toothbrushes, banana flavour and a blackcurrant flavour toothpaste, two cup holders/mini drinking cups and two tooth keepers from Jack N’Jill. I love the ethos of Jack N’ Jill and that their products are biodegradable. It’s always nice when you buy things for little ones knowing they aren’t harming the planet.

Jack N'Jill

Jack N’ Jill Toothpaste is 100% safe for young children, which is something to consider when buying for your toddlers as they have a tendency to swallow it, rather than spit it out! All Jack N’ Jill branding is designed to be appealing to children and is cute enough that parents won’t mind it sitting on their bathroom; we have just had our bathroom redone and I can confirm I am loving having it by our new sink. The toothpaste is available in a variety of flavours including natural strawberry, blueberry, banana, raspberry, blackcurrant & flavour free.

Along with the toothpaste, there are the children’s toothbrushes with handles that are made of NON GMO corn starch, meaning that they are biodegradable and recyclable.

Jack N'Jill

The girls wasted no time in trying these out and absolutely loved the blackcurrant flavour paste and happily stood brushing for well over the buzzer timer – we have to tell them to keep on brushing. The handmade biodegradable rinse are made from natural bamboo and rice husk, can be used as a toothbrush holder or a little swill cup. They love having their own little cup holder that matches their brush. I have to admit my heart melted seeing the super cute bunny and bear pattern.

Jack N'Jill

The girls haven’t yet lost any teeth so I’ll be putting the two little tooth keepers up for that all important milestone; they too are organic cotton. Every single product we were sent was just incredibly gorgeous looking and all are competitively and excellently priced. I would always pay a poiund extra knowing that you are supporting a smaller company and being kind to the planet in the process. Jack N’ Jill Kids is providing parents with a choice, and a natural alternative for their children’s oral care. Jack N’ Jill products are available from selected Ocado, Holland & Barratt online, selected pharmacies and health food shops.

With Winter officially over, I have the Spring bug. I am itching to get back out in the garden and whilst the temperatures are still pretty low and the rain keeps falling, I am optimistic that we will be out in the garden in the next few weeks. As soon as we can, we will be taking our brand new Big Games Hunter Wigwam Play Tent that we have kindly been sent to review. I opted for the flower and butterfly pattern as I loved the bright colours and patterns.

The wigwam comes in parts and you need to assemble it yourself. I have to admit that my husband really struggled with putting it together as the poles kept slipping but with a little help from me, we finally got it together and the girls were super excited to play.

With three children at school and nursery, being organised is something I really need to be. Ok so there’s times where I fail MASSIVELY but 2017 is a year of trying harder. The girls will start school in September so this will ramp up my need for totally being on the ball. As you know thanks to my monthly bucket list linky, I love a good list and trying to be organised so I was chuffed to be sent a Stigu spiral bound planner and a Stigu to do pad to try out.
