It has been a flipping big week here this week; my girls have had their school induction! They did two mornings and then Thursday and today they have been from 9am until 3.15pm. I think we are going to have two very tired ladies this weekend.
I’ve been getting to grips with all the information about the girls starting school in September. Charlie is now in the Juniors part of the school so it’s all very different to the Infants part; I really do feel like a new parent again. Not only that, but the minefield that is girls uniform. I am used to buying a jumper, pack of polo tops and some trousers. Girls? Oh what a revelation. Long socks, ankle socks, tights, skirts, pinafores, trousers, cardigans, summer dresses, jumpers, shirts, hairbands, winter boots, summer shoes – and all this times two! Best start re-mortgaging eh?
I spent a night on the iplayer and watched Murdered for Being Different. I remember the story of Sophie Lancaster being murdered after being attacked with her boyfriend because they were “goths” It was so upsetting as she was murdered for no reason whatsoever. I also watched I’m Coming Out which showed 18 year old Ross telling his parents he is gay. It’s easy to presume that as it’s 2017, it really isn’t a big deal – on the face of it, it doesn’t seem to be but Ross showed how difficult it can be to tell loved ones. He told his parents “on film” and it was so interesting to hear how they all took it.
My husband is off on a stag do today and they are all dressing up as WWE wrestlers. He has chosen Stone Cold and looks just brilliant. There has been a lot of wrestling chat and watching old Royal Rumbles. Charlie has really got into WWE; I absolutely loved it as a kid so I am more than happy to hear all about his favourites.
We had a child free wedding last weekend and the sun shone all day, it was glorious. I also got to finally wear my Chi Chi London dress which has been hanging in my wardrobe for god knows how long. I bought it when it was in the sale and I had no event to wear it to, so I was thrilled when we got a wedding invite. I didn’t plan too well as I forgot to get some tights to mask my ghost like legs, so they somewhat ruin the photo but hey ho. I love the dress, it’s so gorgeous and I had lots of lovely compliments on it.
I’ve really made an effort this week to try to make the experience of school so fun when they think back. We went to the National Trust at Dudmaston on Monday, we attempted strawberry picking on Tuesday (they’d all gone, all picked!) on Wednesday Charlie had his friend over then on Thursday we went out for tea to McDonalds. It was a lovely treat and nice to have an early start to the weekend after a very busy old week.
My husband is on a stag do this weekend, so I have booked to go to see Despicable Me 3 at the cinema on Sunday with the kids. We have loved the other films so I am looking forward to having some fun with them this weekend. Fingers crossed this weather stays put.
