Inspirational Women

I never imagined I would ever have a daughter, let alone two at once. I am from a family filled with women which made Charlie a huge shock when I found out I was having a boy. I was convinced from then on in I would have boys, but as we all know that wasn’t the case.

My family is filled with pretty amazing women. I am lucky to also have some amazing friends who astound me in their strength, courage and love they give. It’s easy to see inspirational women as ones that have changed the world, but sometimes some of the most inspirational are ones you see every day.

I was sent a beautiful eBook which looks at some of the most inspirational women of my generation and their relationship with flowers as symbols of love, happiness and thankfulness across the world. As we all know, I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter books so am in awe of JK Rowling, not just for those books but for everything she believes in. Coming from a bereaved daughter, domestic abuse survivor, single parent on benefits and depression-sufferer to become a multi-award winning novelist, screenwriter, film producer, activist and philanthropist, she is simply amazing. She is outspoken, articulate and such an inspiring lady to read, watch and a pure joy to listen to.

I have written before about inspirational women in my family. My Gran is now 84 and has been through so much in her life, yet you would never ever know. She is so kind, loving and positive even after the pretty crappy hand life has dealt her with loss throughout her life. My Mom was by far the most wonderful woman. I miss her every day but know she is guiding me and I truly learned from the best. My sister too means a huge deal to me. We bicker like crazy yet I wouldn’t be without her. It is nice to show someone you love them by writing a letter, sending a card, sending Flowers Direct or a simple hug.

We as Mothers too are inspirational in our own way. Our children grow up with nothing but pure love for us (granted it wanes a little as they start to talk!) but for me, my own Mother always was my complete idol and role model. She gave me everything and I am so honoured that I got to spend 28 years with her.

B xx

A mother is the most inspirational person in children’s lives
Most of the time what you do and say has a massive effect and influence

As I’ve grown up, my mom becomes more and more of an inspiration to me! I always thought she had it all figured out, and that she was always calm, cool, and collected. But as I get older I see that you don’t actually “figure it all out” when you become an adult. The fact that she was able to raise us alone, while always projecting a still, quiet confidence astounds me more and more every day!
