We have made it – today is the last day of school wrapping up Charlie’s last day in year 3 and the girls last nursery session. It has felt a long time coming, with everyone especially Charlie really feeling the long tiring days. Summer is upon us and for me it feels a tad bittersweet as I know once this holiday is over, my girls are off to school full time. It will be the end of an era and the start of their new journey through school
I was sent a copy of Louise Pentland aka Sprinkle of Glitter debut novel Wilde Like Me. It is the first time in so so long I have sat down with an actual paperbook and read it cover to cover. I am a huge fan of Louise’s and was so excited to read it. I have to say once I started, I could not put it down. I genuinely can’t recommend it enough.
You can read my full review of Wilde Like Me here.
I am excited to announce I am part of the Netflix Stream Team so have been taking my role seriously and throwing myself into various shows. My husband and I started Glow last weekend which we both are really enjoying. The problem is, we start these then he works away Monday to Friday so I have to wait for him to come back to catch up!
My lovely friend Harriet from Toby and Roo has sent us a copy of the new Beauty and the Beast DVD with Emma Watson so I’m sure that will get a hammering at the weekend as we all loved it when it came out at the cinema.
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. I have cheated on my favourite radio station. At 31, I was an avid Smooth FM listener (I know…!) BUt after my friend cranking the radio up, I have been converted to Kisstory. It reminds me of being 19 and getting ready for nights out in town with loads of garage music and it instantly takes me back. The kids are looking at me like a crazy lady as I blast out whilst cooking. I’m all about reliving the youth courtesy of Craig David and Fragma!
Charlie had his end of term disco last night and Charlie being Charlie spent his night requesting songs, namely – Michael Jackson ones. He is the coolest 8 year old ever. Who needs Little Mix eh?!
I am a little in love with these Miffy leggings that were just £4 in the H&M sale. I posted this photo on Instagram and someone pointed out that Bee looks like a minion – it made me absolutely howl! Rocking her yellow top and dungarees. I hadn’t twigged but this comment really made me chuckle.
I had a little splurge in Primark for the kids on Wednesday and got some cute little t-shirts and an amazing denim shirt. I am well and truly a parent to girls as I find myself having to buy new hair clips constantly as we are forever losing them. Primark is definitely the best place as they are so cheap yet so cute, but for a quid you don’t mind if/when they get lost. I think I need to take out shares in them.
I had decided a few weeks ago that on Tuesday, I would take the girls out for one last big adventure whilst we had the option before the holidays start and then they are at school. Charlie was going to a friends afterschool so we literally had all day so we finally decided to take a trip to Alton Towers, as the girls were so desperate to go to Cbeebies Land. We took them when they were tiny but they can’t remember it so we decided to go. It was such a brilliant day (despite the monorail being shut when we had finished and having to trek two very tired four-year olds back to the car which was literally MILES away!)
It wasn’t too busy despite it being full of school trips, but as we stayed primarily in Cbeebies Land it wasn’t too bad. The queues weren’t too long and the weather was warm but not overbearing. It was the perfect was to bring our chapter of life at home to a close. I feel so incredibly sad that it is the end of the era, but know they are going to absolutely love school.
The first week of the holidays then eh?! Sadly my husband looks set to pretty much be working solidly which is a bit of a shame. However, my sister has three days off next week so we are planning to go out with the kids, plus take my Gran out for lunch next Thursday which we are all looking forward to. Here’s to long lazy mornings and hopefully not loads of arguments. Enjoy all
