Colour Runs, Miranda and Chester Zoo #LittleLoves

I’m back in the world of blog. Is it just me or when the weather turns nice you feel compelled to be outside? We have had a busy few weeks hence my lack of posts. My girls turned four last week and there seems to be so much happening in and around school and nursery at this time of year with school fetes, sports days and school inductions I am trying to keep up. My husband has been away working in Copenhagen all week so I’ve had a bit more time to get back on the blog.

I’ve been struggling with Slimming World lately and been really beating myself up when I eat bread or fancy some cake. I think I need to try to chill out and find an alternative way to maintain the weight I’m at without feeling restricted. I read this post from Leanne at A Slice of My Life Wales about the ten stages of dieting which really made me chuckle as this is exactly what I’m doing at the moment. I reward a loss with a huge blowout.

I am always SO late to the party on any “cult” TV series. It is rare I ever watch anything popular as it’s actually on in real time, although for me even I think this is a record at twigging onto a good show. Yes I have been watching Miranda on Netflix and I have been loving it. However I have found myself singing M People way too much thanks to the show. Aside from Miranda, I am hooked on 24 Hours in Police Custody. I find it all so fascinating to see how it all comes together.

I am a sucker for a cop show whether it be real or fiction. I also love watching The Met but found it all a tad disturbing about the Croydon cat killer; not helped by reading on twitter they are still at large with over 100 cats been killed and mutilated, very sad.

We spent Saturday listening to cheers as Charlie and I joined up with our friends to do a 5k charity colour run in Telford. I did it last year but Charlie joined in this year and it was an absolute blast.

The weather held out and we came off very colourful to say the least. It was so lovely to raise money for such a wonderful charity. It is a local hospice and one of their workers was my Moms assigned worker. She not only gave my Mom so much support but us as a whole family. It is nice to be able to give something back after all they did for us when she passed away.

The sun has finally got its hat back on and I am loving it. I have had to dig out the razor as I got the old pale pins out this week, along with my ever faithful cropped denim jacket. I got this skirt in the New Look sale for under a tenner and it is amazing purely because it does not crease nor need to be ironed. Winning.

I was also rocking green paint on my face post colour run as I properly got splatted in the chops! Charlie said I was the Grinch – you can see why!

We made a trip to Chester Zoo last Sunday. We hadn’t been since Charlie was under 3 so lots had changed. They have a fantastic new lay area which we headed to first as heard it gets really busy. We got to see so many animals including some rather spectacular orang-utans. There’s a lovely boat ride and so many animals to see.

I love Chester Zoo as it feels more conservation than zoo if that makes sense? It can be sad to see animals in captivity but they make a real effort to try to make the enclosures as “natural” as possible. The animals were encouraged to forage for their food opposed to sit there waiting to be fed, which is nice to see.

Next week is filled with sports day. The girls as they’re in nursery only do one little running race which will be so cute. On Wednesday Charlie will be doing his full sports day where he will take part in lots of little events. I love watching them at sports day as it makes me feel so proud seeing them all in a big event. It’s also the school BBQ and fete next week which is always a lovely evening, as the kids all get to play together and us parents all get to mill around together. Lets hope the weather stays nice as my husband is home later after a week away. I am thinking perhaps a BBQ to celebrate Fathers Day.

Have a sunny week all

B xx

Chester Zoo is fab isn’t it? I love going there and we just missed the opening the Play Zone though sadly. Love the sandals. How much fun does that color run look like? I love it. Instagrammable activities if there ever was one. Happy weekend ahead in the sunshine. #littleloves

What a lovely way to honour your mum’s memory and join in with a colour run for the hospice. It looks like great fun! Chester zoo looks brilliant, it’s definitely on our list of places to go when we’re up that way visiting family. Love your sandals, they look so comfy! Good luck to the kids for sports day!

The new play area at Chester Zoo is fantastic isn’t it, we touched lucky as we visited on the day it opened. Love your skirt and totally winning if it doesn’t crease or need ironing. If only all clothes could be like that. Have a lovely weekend #littleloves x

The Colour Run looked like so much for and for such a good cause too.
We went to Chester Zoo a lot when my girls were small but haven’t been for ages, we really need to change that and pop along soon. x
