Instagram Woes, Broadchurch and Parties #LittleLoves

It’s been a funny old week. My husband has been at home after being away in Norway, so we have been going out and eating WAY too much whilst the kids are at school and nursery. I’m not looking forward to the scales, but sometimes it’s good to let loose and stuff your face. So onto this weeks #LittleLoves and I have to say it’s been a funny old week.

I found a copy of Little Women in the kids book section of a charity shop. Obviously it was a condensed version but it made me determined to dig out my Mom’s copy. It was her absolute favourite and despite her denying it, she has daughters called Amy and Beth so I’m thinking it was a large influence on her choices. It’s such a brilliant read despite my namesake dying!

I have been reading and researching all the local National Trust sites close to us. We went to Shugborough Hall last Sunday when the weather was utterly amazing. It was so beautiful there and the kids loved playing hide and seek. They literally played for an hour no interruptions. I am so glad we got the passes and am looking forward to finding more sites. I am thinking of going to Croome next – any tips?

Late as always, I have joined in with the Broadchurch bandwagon. I have to say after Line of Duty, I was looking forward to watching something that had been so hyped up but after finishing the first series I was really disappointed by the ending? I felt it was going to have a real shock twist and was just left a bit flat. We have started on series 2 but it definitely doesn’t have the same addictive pull that Line of Duty did.

We also watched the Anthony Joshua documentary. I think I am rapidly falling in love with him! He is just so humble and down to earth despite being a pretty amazing boxer who has shot to fame. It’s nice to have someone decent as a kids role model too.

There’s been a lot of talk about Disney World. We still haven’t booked and it’s starting to bug me. I am going to pin everyone down and get it sorted ASAP. I have been getting lots of tips from Pinterest and YouTube. Emma at Brummy Mummy’s videos look utterly ace and make me so excited. My friend Kerry from All About a Mini Norris was also capturing her trip on IG stories so I was stalking her when she was out there. It just looks beyond amazing and I cannot wait to go.

I have been rocking my second hand and charity shop bargains this week. I even dared to brave my long maxi skirt which has had lots of lovely compliments. I am really struggling with the weather as despite losing weight, I am still so conscious about my tummy. I feel like I look pregnant and often wonder if people glance and think “is she?” I know I’m never going to have a flat stomach but I don’t like anything to cling. I also hate my shoulders and feel they are SO wide so strappy tops make me worry a LOT, especially with my bingo wings. I definitely need to look closely at my summer wardrobe.

I went shopping yesterday with my friend Sammie and got WAY too much from Primark that I didn’t need including three pairs of exactly the same shoe, just in different colours. I got the red, denim and leopard print – just because they were £4 each!

I made some decisions about my blog this week. I have been feeling somewhat despondent about my blog and have been putting ridiculous pressure on myself for no real reason. I haven’t blogged consistently for some time and obviously my stats have taken a hit from it, but does it REALLY matter? I chatted to my friend Lauren who gave me a pep talk and made me see that it really DOESN’T matter and I don’t need validation from anyone. I was also feeling a bit sensitive about the whole followers equal stats talk and got a bit upset that it was insinuated that I possibly could have paid for followers. I can categorically say I have never and would never buy followers (that’s Disney saving money right there, I ain’t going to waste THAT!) I have worked really hard on my Instagram, probably at a detriment to my blog, YouTube and other social medias purely because I love Instagram. I felt it was unrealistic that your blog stats should equate to the number of IG followers. Who on earth follows someone on IG to read their blog?! Instagram is a completely different network and I feel it’s completely separate to my blog and not an extension. Just like my YouTube is separate. Anyway, I got my knickers in a right old twist about a few remarks and Lauren reminded me that this all belongs to me and no one else. I’ve put in a lot of effort and research into times, audiences etc and I am going back to basics. I don’t need someone to tell me if my blog is good enough and I am lucky that I blog for me, not to support my family. It’s a hobby and I am taking it back to being that/ I want to get the fun back instead of worrying because my stats have dropped. I’m rambling now but it feels good to write it down. I love Instagram and always will – it’s just so damn pretty!

It’s my oldest friend’s (not literally!) 30th birthday party tomorrow and I am SO excited. We lived next-door to each other since we were babies and ironically, she moved back next-door to me last year. I am looking forward to having a catch up with her family and also enjoying a night out with my husband and my Dad. Not so looking forward to the hangover though…! Have a good week. only one week until Blog On – yay.
B xx

Sounds like you made some positive decisions about your blog this week and I think you are absolutely right; my Youtube is not really connected to my blog and I don’t get the same audience so you couldn’t judge the two the same! We also have NT passes and LOVE them; they get so much use, especially in the summer. Have a great week #littleloves

Broardchurch is definitely a slow burner but still worth a watch. Loving your charity shop bargains they look great on you. I also buy the same shoes in all the different colours, I do it with tops and pants too if I somethings comfy I stock right up. Better the devil as they say. Have a lovely weekend. #LittleLoves

Oh gosh, I must have my head in the sand as I’d never heard anything about IG followers equaling blog stats! Who came up with that? Bizarre. Well done to your friend for giving you a pep talk and to you for carrying on regardless. Keep doing your thing and stick to what you love, pay no attention to those that try and bring you down.
    Have a lovely weekend! xx

I love your skirt! I think when you put slot of effort into your blog and don’t get the result you hope it can be really despondent. I used to take it to heart but I blog for me and the stats really don’t matter. its hard though isn’t it? Hope you have a wonderful weekend..Popping over from #Littleloves

I am so excited for your Disney trip and I love your maxi skirt! I am the same as you – my stomach is never going to be flat but hey, we grew AWESOME babies!! And yep, keep doing what you’re doing with your blog – ignore everyone else!! x

Sounds like you’ve given yourself a good talking to about your blog and made some very wise decisions. I’ve been thinking about mine a lot lately too, especially with going back to work full time in September. I have seriously considered packing it in but then I still like my little space and am quite happy to dip in and out of it when I feel like it. All the blogging politics seem to go over my head and I quite like it that way, I’ve completely missed the follower/stat thing so not too sure what has gone on there.
You look lovely in your skirt and certainly don’t look pregnant! You look fabulous. I’m paranoid about my shoulders and upper arms and always feel more comfortable when they are covered up. So glad you’re going to Blog On next week, see you then for a proper catch up xx

Oh Disneyworld is just the best, and I can’t wait for you to book your trip. Ah blogging sucks sometimes when you feel like that, and glad you had such a good pep talk. Sometimes it’s so hard not to get bogged down by stats and followers, but keep doing what you love doing. Looking forward to meeting you at Blog On #littleloves x

Love your skirt! I’m so jealous of your National Trust passes, I’m a real history geek so they would be heaven to me – such a saddo! Hope you have a great time this weekend x

Aah, anyone who even thinks there’s a direct correlation between Instagram followers and blog stats needs to go back to blog school and re-educate themselves. You know my opinion on the whole matter anyway. Keep doing what you’re doing as long as you enjoy it – it’s not worth putting any pressure on yourself. xxx

OH don’t worry babes on the blog stats or the ig thing. I don’t follow many because I like to support everyone I follow as much as possible so it looks like alot follow me but I don’t follow back but you know what I work like you hard on ig every single day i run a big hashtag community I comment and engage and ig story the crap out of my life because I love that outlet and it’s my fave. People are always going to find something to judge us on. I was getting worked up over the same thing and I realize I love sharing my life my family adventures on my blog and my ig is like a mini blog of my daily life and I shouldn’t worry what others are saying or my stats going up and down. Blogging is hard when we put so much needless pressure on ourselves. You are doing amazing keep it up.
