I was tagged by the lovely Emma from Sophie, Ella and Me to write all about Christmas!
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
I love Nightmare Before Christmas although it’s not 100% Christmassy as such. I also love The Grinch and Elf as they’re both so funny.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Pass! Not that I can remember although timehop showed me it snowed a few years ago before Christmas but I’m sure it’d gone by the actual day.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Since losing my Mom, we now host Christmas. My sister hasn’t got any children and we are in the middle of her and Dad so it’s easy to get to us.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
Oooh that’s a tough one. I love The Pogues Fairytale of New York as it instantly reminds me of driving around at Christmas with my Dad.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No. We made the mistake of letting Charlie open one a few years back and he got consumed by it meaning that’s all he wanted to play with on Christmas morning!
Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
We always have a takeaway on Christmas Eve so it’s something that builds the excitement.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Real. My husband has converted me as we always opted for a fake but now Charlie and he are in charge of getting the tree the first weekend in December.
What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?
Pigs in blankets ALL DAY LONG!
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
Giving. I go a bit wild at Christmas buying but I feel lucky that I’m in a position where I can and love to make it as special as possible.
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
I got engaged on Christmas Day and got a beautiful locket saying will you marry me in it so that was my best present ever.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
New York is one of two places in the world I want to visit. My friend Rachel visited last year and her photos were utterly amazing so would love to go at Christmas time. Although I’d happily take any other time of the year too haha.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I am utterly useless. I’m sure the kids could wrap better! My husband is the pro wrapper in our family.
Most memorable Christmas moment?
Bar getting engaged, I remember my sisters unmeasurable excitement for Christmas. She would wake us all up at 4am and I remember her getting a Nintendo and being crazy excited for it.
What made you realise the truth about Santa?
Sob! No idea but it’s sad when the Magic ends isn’t it?!
What makes the holidays special for you?
Getting the family together and realising it’s not what you get but what you have. Losing a member of the family makes Christmas feel very different but also appreciate the here and now. The kids won’t be little forever so time to treasure the magic!
