Slimming World – Six Month Update

I have been a member of Slimming World for just over six months meaning I’ve now weighed in each week since the start of January. I thought I’d do an update on my journey.

When I joined my Slimming World group, I knew I wanted to lose three stone. I was quite disgusted to see the number on the scales and the fact that none of my clothes fitted me. There had been days where I had tried to wear my husbands jeans and even they didn’t fit. It was a very dark and low point in my life because I was so incredibly unhappy. I never wanted to go out and felt horrid in my own skin.

I set in my head a target of three stone as that would have taken me back to the weight that I was on my return from honeymoon. I am really lucky that for the first time I went on a health kick/weight loss was in the run up to my wedding. I lost a stone in six months then as I was going to the gym and using my fitness pal. As that was my only experience of losing weight I was presuming that three stone was going to take a long time. Then I started Slimming World.

And here I am. Six months down the line and have lost three stone and three & a half pounds. And feel Awesome.

I have definitely found that as time has gone on, I bend the rules on plan a lot more than I used to. In the early weeks I would have around 6 syns per day whereas now that I usually get to at least 13 syns each day but it hasn’t stopped my weight loss. I have only ever put on twice in all my weigh ins which is amazing! Both were completely expected and totally understandable given what I’d eaten.  I still have dieting wobbles but I remember why I started and how crap I felt before. I don’t want to go back to that.

People always ask how I’ve done it and honestly? I’ve stuck to plan. I have cheat meals and cheat days because if I hadn’t I would end up resenting it. We all have times where we are tired, hormonal or feeling crap and a binge is needed but as long as you get back on it and don’t end up throwing in the towel.

Planning your food is also an essential. If I don’t have Slimming World friendly food in then there’s no option but to eat crap. I’ve cut down enormously on all the junk I used to buy as if it’s not in the house then I can’t eat it. Obviously we still have bits and bobs for treats for the kids but compared to before it’s nowhere near.

Let me know if you have anything you want to ask or if you want me to share my weekly weight losses. I’m more than happy to share! I may even share a before and after…

B xx
