Baby Annabell seems to be the top of the crop in the doll world. The first doll was her soft bodied newborn doll for their first birthday. Despite being quite tomboy-ish in most ways, they have a massive soft spot for dolls. They love the mothering element so we were kindly sent one to try.
The doll measures approx 46 cm and she comes with a bottle with a lid, dummy and locket charm and is dressed in a pink babygrow and detachable hat. She can drink real water with sucking movement of her cheeks, suck her dummy, cry real tears, babble, burp, laugh and even fall asleep with a gentle snore. The doll is suitable for children aged 3+ meaning my girls are the perfect age for her.
They absolutely loved giving her the bottle and thought it was just hilarious when she cried (you’ll learn girls that crying babies are NOT amusing)
They were absolutely fascinated (as was I) to see that Baby Annabell actually drinks and cries real water! It confused me as she has no nappy but after some investigation the water collates in the back of her head. It can be a little tricky for the girls to align the bottle straight into her mouth so she did get a bit soggy as it kept slipping as they didn’t hold it still. Also be aware that the doll doesn’t come with batteries; she requires 4xAA so make sure you have some otherwise you’ll have a grumpy child on your hands! Overall I think she’s a great doll that has really engaged the girls and has so many features and they’ve really enjoyed playing with her. As expected, it’s a good quality doll and I’m sure we will be starting a vast collection over the next few years.
