Amazing! Magazine Review and Giveaway

Charlie has become a fully blown bookworm since starting Year 2. The speed he can finish a book is quite astonishing and we are always looking for new content for him to get his hands on. We were sent two copies of Amazing! magazine which is an educational magazine based on the national curriculum. The old editor of the Horrible Histories magazine has just started working on the magazine so I knew instantly it would be a hit.  IMG_5967
Amazing! is a monthly 36 page publication packed with articles, facts, stories covering subjects such as Maths, English, Science, History and makes it all fun with jokes, puzzles, facts and activities for kids. We found that it is of a really good quality for a magazine as the pages are really thick and durable and don’t rip as you turn the page.

The price is £3.99 and is available from a wide variety of high street stockists. I think this is a reasonable and standard price and would happily pay it for a magazine. An annual subscription is just £49 for 12 issues (which is a whole year). Teachers and schools can also receive copies at a discounted rate. You can also get digital subscriptions via iTunes, GooglePlay and Kindle Stores for just £23.99.It is aimed at children aged 7+ so Charlie is the ideal target group. I asked him about them and he said that he really likes the quizzes and really enjoyed the Ancient Romans special as he’s been reading about them at school. IMG_5971It makes a nice change to have a magazine that is educational as ones he has before often just are about games and just have fiction stories.

There’s some really further info on the web www.amazing.org.uk together with a preview of their previous 18 issues. I am giving TEN Twinderelmo readers the chance to win a copy of the magazine; all you need to do is complete the RaffleCopter below. My children both LOVE magazines although I think it’s more for the plastic junk on the front.

That magazine looks fantastic. Oldest is in Year 2 and really loves reading and I am always on the look out for a good magazine for her as a lot of them seem to be too young or on the other hand a lot of them seem too old. She has been reading the Jacqueline Wilson magazines but it is a bit too old really as it talks about make-up and nail varnish etc. So this looks perfect. I shall have to investigate. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
