Surprises – The Ordinary Moments

Today is Valentine’s Day and it’s pretty split; some love it and some hate it. I’ve never minded it as it is just one day and it’s lovely to see a whole host of beautiful flowers and hearts decorating the shops. Even as a single girl it never really bothered me so it puzzles me when people are so disgusted by the day with shouts of “your partner should show you love every day of the year not a tacky card” … It’s bizarre how there’s not the same angry sentiment when Mothers and Fathers Day roll around!!

When we first got together there were usually gifts and flower deliveries – now after years of marriage and three kids we usually go for a meal and exchange cards but that’s about it. It is nice to acknowledge the day but this year I had a rather early treat.

Now it’s not especially a Valentine’s present (but he’s definitely using it as one!) but the 14th February aside – my husband did the most wonderful surprise for me on Friday. I have been desperately lusting after a Welsh dresser for such a long time. Watching countless amounts on eBay that slipped through my fingers and never truly having the space for one. But since moving our kitchen is much bigger and when I spotted one on a local selling page – I did what I usually do; send it to my sister, my Dad, my husband and best friend to marvel at its beauty. They’re probably fed up of seeing them as I do it so often!

My husband was on his way home after working away all week so the usual excitement of Daddy returning home on a Friday but as I was in the kitchen with my sister who had popped in, a flash of Aqua hit my eyes as he came in carrying the beautiful dresser! He had contacted the lady selling and went and collected it. I had no idea and was overwhelmed by what a lovely surprise it was.

Just how beautiful is it?
There will be lots of rearranging and finding the perfect accessories but this is it currently. And I’m in love!
It’s so wonderful how a surprise can make you feel. I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine’s Day – if you celebrate it or not

B xx

Awwww! What a thoughtful thing to do. We’re not big into Valentine’s. More so when we first got together, but we did go for a meal last week when my in-laws were visiting. #ordinarymoments

Aw what a thoughtful thing to do and it is absolutely beautiful- just gorgeous! What a lovely husband you have. Even better that it was a surprise. I agree about Valentines Day, we never go overboard on it but I find it funny how people get so het up about it. xx

I absolutely love it! Need to have a word with my husband, although definitely no room in my house! Hopefully one day we will have enough space for one. The colour is gorgeous so bright! x
