New House Carpets

In all the houses I’ve lived in, I’ve always had carpet so moving into our new house and finding the entire downstairs is tiled and wooden floors has thrown me. However after seeing how dirty the lounge carpet is I’m quite happy to have wooden flooring in there.

All of the upstairs (bar the bathroom) and stairs are carpeted so I’m not completely out of my comfort zone. However the carpet is quite a light beige which makes me feel a tad nervous!

I had a similar colour in my bedroom as a teenager and it had to be replaced quite soon afterwards due to staining incredibly easily and showing up the dirt, so you can understand my apprehension when I spotted it. I much prefer darker colours that tend to mask stains – especially when you have kids as they’re inevitable!

I’m thinking as the stairs and landing are going to be heavy traffic areas that we may need to look at getting a different colour. In our rented property, we had a grey carpet throughout bar the kitchen and bathroom and it was brilliant. I’ve started looking around a spotted a similar one on the Carpetright website that has caught my eye

I love the colour and how versatile it can be. I get itchy feet when it comes to decorating in the home and liked to change colour schemes regularly (well as regular as I can convince my husband to dig out the wallpaper paste and brushes!) so I need a carpet that will fit in with various colours.

The carpet also is classed as hard wearing and has a 15 year stain guarantee which when you have 3 young children is like music to my ears!
