Cake Dates – The Ordinary Moments

My best friend went back to work this week after 15 months on maternity leave. From an incredibly selfish pointof view, I am so sad that she is back at work because it was so so lovely to have someone to be able to pop round all the time and see and let her little boy (my Godson) play with the girls.

She was incredibly sad at the prospect of leaving him too so when she got her return date we decided to have a special day to cheer her up and end her maternity on a high. So we popped over to Ironbridge which isn’t far from where we live – and headed to -the- most amazing cake shop which is just gorgeous and sells the most amazing cupcakes. It is called Queenies and has a very royal vibe which was so lovely and made us feel very patriotic!

I don’t need to say anymore, the photos speak for themselves!

The summer holidays has given me a real confidence boost as I’ve been taking the girls out a lot more without the pushchair and it’s not been all that chaotic. This day was just lovely to spend time together – and of course, eat cake! Just feeling so sad we didn’t do it more often whilst we had the chance.

The cake date looks really perfect. It’s always such a wrench when that return to work time arrives. I felt so torn going back. Hope she settles back really soon x

YAY for friends and cake! I remember what it was like when my bestie went back to work – it makes me so sad even thinking about it now. It’ll be normal in no time though and you’ll just make the time you do have extra special x

Ooh there’s never a bad time for cakes! I love a cafe or tea shop with loads of character too. Sad to see your friend return to work but you’ll find a new normal now I’m sure. I’m relieved to hardly ever use a buggy these days now my youngest has turned three. #ordinarymoments
