The last bank holiday of the year is approaching and whilst July and most of August has been somewhat of a damp squib, we are now facing the realisation that the kids will soon be at school; September is approaching and the nights will be drawing in and before you know it – everyone will start talking about (whispers) Christmas.
For me personally, Easter bank holidays are always about spring cleaning and DIY. The August bank holiday signals the close of the summer and that autumn will soon be upon us. I really love the autumn as its still warm but as the leaves fall from the trees there’s something quite romantic and cosy about it all – namely that I get to wear boots and tights! But I love the decorative pieces that are drafting into the shops and before going into full on silver & gold/ red & green festive mode I like to make the gradual transition and reflect it in my house.
HomeSense is just a treasure cove of amazing bits and pieces, and a place that I could literally spend hours scouring over the goodies dotted about. HomeSense is certainly is an one of these places where you can discover wonderful one-offs for your house; I have picked 5 that I am a little bit in love with and definitely use to start to the make the shift between summer and autumn.
Violet lecruset £12.99
Grey knitted footstool £37.99
Can I start by saying what bargains these are – a throw for £4.99?!
The candle has a very Halloween theme with the colour and the smell too would start wafting in a hint of the autumn. The flower candle would be perfect as we will soon be needing lights on much earlier as the nights draw in and I don’t like having harsh big lights on, so a smaller lamp is perfect to throw a bit of light without straining your eyes. It’s also a very delicate and statement piece as it serves a duel purpose of looking good whilst being very practical. Now this throw – what an absolute steal being under a fiver. The sun will be shutting up shop and leaving us with a chilly night, so a throw on the back of the sofa to be able to snuggle under for when you get a bit chilly is an absolute must!
My two favourite pieces have to be the lecruste and footstool. I love making casseroles and good old fashioned “hearty” meals as the weather drops cold so why not make them in style with this gorgeous pot which again is very reasonably priced.
I am in love with the footstool. It’s so quirky and is such a versatile colour that come Christmas will be on trend but as my lounge currently is a silver colouring it would fit in perfectly. I love that it’s not your stereotypical traditional foot stool style and I know the kids would love this and probably end up using it as a beanbag! Each time I see it, I love it a little bit more so need to go shopping!
Have you visited HomeSense recently? I’d love to see all your goodies!
