How Do You Blog?

I have a confession – I’m rather unorganised. I struggle to stick rigidly to lists and am forever putting things off that I really am not all that keen on (housework, obviously!) but I find my own little systems and they seem to work. Charlie has never been late for school and all his reply slips, football and PE kits are in school on the correct days so the important things I am on top of. But when it comes to blogging – I think I need to knuckle it down!

See, if I have a review or post to do for someone else then I’m totally on the ball only ever once having to move a self imposed deadline back a few days so again – the important things I can totally nail. But my own posts would have some of you wincing!

Look at that – 55 drafts! I remember a Facebook group chat there some people were despairing at having 2 or 3 sat in there! But all 55 have snippets of content that I needed to save and draft out. Some draft posts literally have one line, others a few paragraphs and a lot are almost finished and just need some proof reading and tweaking. There’s even a couple that are ready to go but I’m waiting to build up the courage to press publish and release my thoughts to the Internet-sphere.

I’m not very good at using a pen and paper to capture my thoughts, ideas and feelings – plus 9 times out of 10 I forget where I wrote it or the girls will get to it first resulting in an artistic piece of scribbles and then ripped into a thousand soggy pieces!

On the whole I tend to blog around 5 times a week. I have two linkies that I always join in with religiously on a Sunday and Wednesday but the other days can be incredibly random. There are days where I will sit and write a post and instantly press publish or quite often schedule the night before. I like the spontaneity of my posts and often post what is exactly on my mind in that 24 hour timeframe.

To most it may seem a tad erratic but for me it works!

What’s your blogging routine and system?

B xx

I’m completely disorganised, I tend to write what pops into my head but hardly ever schedule posts as I’m just not ready that far in advance. Every school holiday I promise myself I will get on top of my bloggy schedule but I never do. Maybe this Easter I will sort myself out…then again, probably not! xx

I am the same as you. I’m rather disorganised with the blogging front but I’m so so with the school and house side of things x

I have no structure to my blogging at all! I really should. I do reviews when I get round to adding the photos, I always forget about posts in my drafts and I too, he many posts to tweak. I don’t think it does work for me though, I think I need to find a system that works….

I love this blogging style! This is what I do. Sometimes I just write a line here or there. Some weeks I have loads other weeks not. I love spontaneous posts and think that’s best – not to overthink things and have raw passion/emotion x

Phew I am not the only one with a ton of drafts! I have a lot too but i think that is healthy to be honest. I like to keep them there to remind me or I will forget what seems like an awesome idea at the time x

I find myself too busy to blog for a few days and then writing and scheduling about 2 or 3 on others! I wish I was a bit more organised, but I quite like not having a set day to blog on as sometimes I just have nothing to say haha xx

I don’t really feel like I have a routine or system to be honest, usually I try to get something finished for the night before so that I can schedule it for the morning but not really. I like to join in with some linkys every week but I am not great at remembering!

In his speech at my wedding my Dad said I was organised to the point of being frightening. I think that goes for blogging too. I always have about 20 scheduled, have about 10-15 in pending waiting to add links, photos and schedule and then I have 10-20 in drafts, some have been there for a year or more. Mainly just titles/ideas waiting for me to write. I always create a new draft whenever a review item arrives or I agree a sponsored post and they always get written first.
    Yep, far too organised! x

I am a new blogger, and find it very hard to stay organised as I work full time as well. I do try and plan my posts, and aim to post 4x a week xx

Interesting insight. Not being too rigid adds your unique style and gives it character, surely?

I NEVER draft! I sit down, usually once a day, bang a post out and publish! Really disciplined! However I am sometimes late for reviews as I seem to procrastinate over those more!! I like to keep a lot of lists – it really helps me keep focused. Good luck with your posts! Jess x
