[Review] Sophie La Girafe Cosmetics

Sophie La Girafe; a name incredibly familiar with most parents. At most playgrous, soft play areas and playgrounds across the country you are bound to spot at least one Sophie being gnawed on by a little person – my girls were massive fans of her when those peksy teeth were poking through. Sophie was never far from reach. But I have to admit – I thought that was it. But how wrong was I – there’s an absolute huge variety of products that you can buy alongside your trust old giraffe friends.
I had no idea that they did cosmetics so was incredibly lucky to be sent three to try out on my girls. We were sent the Hair and Body Wash, some body lotion and baby oil Body lotion (RRP £14.99) 150ml
This can also be used if you are pregnant as it contains oat milk which can sooth the skin – something I desperately needed when suffering from cholestasis in my twin pregnancy.

This is a cream and smells lovely. P1 is susceptible to rather sensitive skin. I don’t put a lot of products on her too often but I tried this lotion as it states it was calming and I’m pleased to report no rashes or changes to her skin. The cream rubs in easily and doesn’t leave your hands feeling sticky and greasy – bonus!

Baby Oil (RRP £14.99) 200ml
I have to admit from the outset – I’m not a massive fan of baby oil. I find it really greasy and difficult to absorb into the skin. The bottle says it was suitable for in the bath and directly on the skin – so I did both. In the bath it had a slight film on top of the water but thought it would help add extra moisture to their skin.
When I used directly on the skin again it was quite greasy but that is the nature of baby oil and I think it’s personal preference if you like it or not.

Hair and Body Wash (RRPP £11.99) 200ml
I absolutely LOVE this product. It smells absolutely gorgeous and I have to say that we used it over a few nights and it cleaned off lasagne, chicken curry, yogurts and beef stew – and I didn’t need to use a sponge and flannel! Tomato based meals are always an absolute nightmare to get off them and I always find myself keep washing and “scrubbing” them to stop them looking like they’ve got a dodgy fake tan!! But I’m rather astounded to say that I used my hand to apply the wash and then rinsed and all the food stains came off! Absolute minimal effort so I was very impressed by this.

In all honesty, the range is definitely at the higher end of the scale and the price reflects this. I would deem it as a luxury product and the sleek design and packaging definitely fits this mould. As I said above, personally I’m not a huge fan of baby oil so probably would not buy this but that is not the individual product but the whole concept of baby oil and the greasy nature of it. However I would definitely look at purchasing the hair and body wash as was so impressed at the easy application and washing process without having to constantly rewash.

I’m off to nose through the rest of the beautiful products on the website!

DISCLOSURE – We were sent three products to try in exchange for a review. All words, views & pictures are my own… And the Sophie is ours too!!

Great, honest review, I’m not one to splurge on higher end products but these look so gorge I’m very tempted! I had know idea there was life beyond Sophie!

I LOVE baby oil as I have keratosis Pilaris on my arms and so too keep it moisturised, the greasier is the better for me, cannot wait to give that a whirl.

Freddie has just started weaning so we are getting food stains everywhere and yep you guessed it, fake tan central! Will have to try the magic wash too!

Thanks Twinders, we will give these a go for my LB (and for Mommy!) xx
