We’ve been to the Panto – oh yes we have! And we didn’t like it… We loved it!
Ok ok enough of the cheesy lines – I promise. On Friday we took Charlie to the pantomime. Pantomime is quite the tradition in our family. We went to the glorious Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury two years ago to see Jack and the Beanstalk and he went last year with my Parents so when we were asked up go along we couldn’t break tradition could we!
This years cast did a fantastic job. I always used to go as a child and can’t recall seeing Peter Pan so I too was extra excited and it didn’t disappoint. Produced by Paul Hendy and Emily Wood, the star of the show is director Brad Fitt who is on his 4th pantomime at the wonderful Theatre Severn venue, plays Mrs Smee who provides many a laugh out loud moment not to mention outrageous weird and wonderful costumes during the show.
We took our seats in the upper circle. I’ve never sat upstairs before and the view was fabulous. Charlie loved the fact he was sitting upstairs and we had the perfect view of the whole stage (and a sneaky peak at the brilliant orchestra!)
There were flying actors, fabulous costumes, fun singalongs and an array of wonderful sets to keep old and young entertained. Charlie was mesmerised by iconic Snappy the crocodile and he too was impressed with the flying Wendy and Peter.
My favourites were Captain Hook and you must look out for stinky Pete who is hilarious! There’s also blue haired mermaids warbling in their screechy accents and rather amazing blue hair and the Indians headed by Squatting Cow! There are lots of younger kids in the crew too many of whom who are local which is lovely to see!
The show runs until Sunday 11th January 2015 with some tickets still left. You can book via the Theatre Severn website. Go on – it is Christmas after all! I hear it’s Dick Whittington next year. Now where can I book?!
Disclosure – we received tickets FOC but all words and views are my own
