If you’re anything like me, I love a good nose at other people’s stuff. I have decided to make it easier for you and am sharing what I got for Christmas this year. I’m putting it out there now that my husband’s gift buying puts me to SHAME as he’s so bloody good at it, the git. If you follow me on Instagram you will remember his amazing birthday surprise shoes? Well, he’s done it again!
So this weekend it’s Mother’s Day. Husband and children all over the UK are starting to worry what to buy for the main lady in their lives – and in steps me. I will give you the low down what women REALLY want for Mother’s Day.
A lie in – this is the greatest gift you can give to any sleep deprived Mother. Be sure to creep out of the bedroom and do not wake her otherwise it somewhat defeats the object! Waking her up after 9am is acceptable – but only if it’s with bacon and HOT tea to be consumed alone.
Alcohol – Always useful to have as back up after a rather long stressful day. A nice bottle after the kids have gone to bed after you’ve let her lie in so she’s feeling all happy and chilled…you know what I’m saying!
A cleaner for the day – a day off hovering 5 days a day and trying to scrub ground in chilli off the fridge is quite positively heaven! Take hold of the mop and polish and don’t let her lift a finger until the stroke of midnight – then yes she can go back to Cinderella cleaning mode.
Home made cards – aww I know some people may think it’s cheap and tacky but I bloody love a homemade card from my little people; it’s a fail safe way for a slight blub into a bacon sarnie and is super cheap and easy (especially if you have toddlers as literally a scribble is fabulous!)
I’m quite lucky that my husband is very good at buying presents. He knows me pretty well and I always do quite well out of birthday, Christmas, Mothers Day etc. So when I was asked to review a Mothers Day gift from the lovely folks at Not On The High Street I let him take the free reign and choose something or me – and this was what he picked as my gift:
And I absolutely loved it!! They picked me this uber gorgeous gin tea cup and saucer. It can in extremely secure packaging ensuring that it reached me in perfect condition. The saucer is dotted and the cup has a gold ring around the bottom. I have always wanted a proper bone china cup and I have always had to have a cup that is MINE so this is absolutely perfect. I feel ever so posh with a saucer but it’s something I absolutely love and will definitely be using it – probably for a cuppa with my bacon sandwich (classy as ever eh?!) It’s a quirky, cool and different type of gift and one that most Moms would giggle at and absolutely love.
The cup is created by designer Yvonne Ellen who is an English designer and the items are made in England. Yvonne also has a wider range of products available on Not On The High Street including a vodka version of this mug and some pretty awesome animal plates! There’s a whole host of other super cute gifts for you or your own Mom that aren’t your stereotypical flowers, chocolate and bubble baths. Make this the year you think outside of the box and buy a very individual unique one off gift – trust me, it’ll get you major Mom brownie points.
Express Next day delivery is available so if you’re starting to panic as Mother’s Day is just around the corner (15th March in case you can’t even remember that!) – RELAX – do not fear; gin tea in this teacup will solve all ails!
