We have made it – today is the last day of school wrapping up Charlie’s last day in year 3 and the girls last nursery session. It has felt a long time coming, with everyone especially Charlie really feeling the long tiring days. Summer is upon us and for me it feels a tad bittersweet as I know once this holiday is over, my girls are off to school full time. It will be the end of an era and the start of their new journey through school   I was sent a copy of Louise Pentland aka Sprinkle of…

When it comes to planning a family holiday, there’s a lot you need to take into consideration. Will there be enough to keep the children entertained at the hotel? What sort of activities can we look forward to during the day? Will we be able to afford to eat out every night? I can’t answer every question you have about booking a family holiday, but can help with the finances. Below, I’ve rounded up six ways to save money on your next family getaway this year. Go all inclusive Although all inclusive deals are usually more expensive than self-catering, such…

As you may recall, we recently booked our family holiday to Walt Disney World in Florida for 2018. As a family of five, it is going to cost a fair whack so we have decided for the first time since planning our wedding, that we are going to start saving. The lovely folk from Scottish Friendly asked if I wanted to take on the Money Saving Diary Challenge in a bid to find ways to cut costs and save money, meaning that our Disney fund is growing nicely. With this in mind, I tracked my outgoings over a week and…

As someone who is a tad addicted to YouTube, I was incredibly excited to hear the newly pregnant Louise Pentland (aka Sprinkle of Glitter) was releasing her debut novel, Wilde Like Me. The book is written from Robin’s perspective and documents the trials and tribulations of being a single parent. She…

As my daughters loving ran in before 5am to wake me up, I chanted to myself – two more Mondays left. Yes, the school year is coming to a close and it’s with mixed emotions we parents stare down the barrel of the 6 week long holiday. As you drag yourself to the school gate, everywhere there are signs that the school holidays well and truly are coming. Their school uniform is grubby/too small/faded. With just two weeks left, that white top that is now becoming a crop top and is a fetching shade of grey will just have to…

If you follow me on social media, you will know that last week was a big week – the girls had their school taster induction week. It was made up of two half day sessions and two full day sessions, ahead of them starting full time in September. They already do daily afternoon sessions in the nursery which are three hours long so I knew Monday and Tuesday half day sessions would go without a hitch. It was lovely as my husband was here on Monday so it felt less daunting dropping them off in their little uniforms which they…

It has been a flipping big week here this week; my girls have had their school induction! They did two mornings and then Thursday and today they have been from 9am until 3.15pm. I think we are going to have two very tired ladies this weekend. I’ve been getting to grips with all the information about the girls starting school in September. Charlie is now in the Juniors part of the school so it’s all very different to the Infants part; I really do feel like a new parent again. Not only that, but the minefield that is girls uniform.…
