Sisterhood Q and A

19th October 2014
Thank you to my wonderful friend MummyWrites over at Cottonwool & Eggshells for tagging me to share my Sisterhood of the World answers to these questions with you.
What was your first job?
I worked in a pub on a Sunday with my best friend. We were only young and so rubbish but we had so many laughs! We left when the rather unprofessional chef told a complaining customer to “blame the girls not me” Oh dear!
What is your favourite time of day?
I love about 4pm on a Friday. Husband usually comes back at this time and Charlie will be back from school and excited for the weekend. I love this time after school as it’s lovely to see him with his sisters and it’s nice locking the door for the day knowing that it’s just us for the evening.
If you won £1,000 what would you spend it on?
If I was being sensible it’d be saved but seeing as this isn’t true reality – I’d splurge and probably take the kids off to Disneyland Paris for Christmas. A grand probably wouldn’t get us far but I’d love to be in the whole atmosphere around Christmas.

When and how often do you blog?

I usually blog Monday-Thursday and then do a Silent Sunday post but this is a very loose schedule. I don’t force myself to write and if I have nothing then so be it!! I am quite spontaneous and if I start or get an idea then I go from there.

What annoys you most about your day-to-day life?
The school run – the bane of my life!! I’ve never known so few people be able to drive more careless or recklessly in my life. It’s like between the hours of 8.30-9am and 3-3.30pm it’s a free for all and no one can park or drive normally. It’s very annoying and can be stressful especially in the rain. We ironically lived about 3 minutes away from the school and moved 6 months before Charlie started school!!

What’s been your best single experience so far?
Very predictable and very smushy but becoming a Mother has really made me. I’ve learnt a lot about myself and have feelings and thoughts I never thought possible before having children. There’s been highs and lows but it’s given me a sense of purpose and I blimmin love the fact these 3 little people call me Mom.

What’s the most challenging thing you’ve ever done?
I was very reliant on my parents when I had Charlie. My mom especially did so much for me in terms of childcare and babysitting. I had quite a lot of freedom and if ever I needed a hand she would be there. When had was diagnosed this all changed and having to learn to become independent and have to do it on my own has been very hard. Not because I am lazy but because I no longer have an amazing teacher and support next to me. Having everything you have known ripped apart and starting from scratch is incredibly hard especially with the most gut wrenching grief thrown into the mix. It’s a challenge I wish I never had to accept but it’s been forced upon me. And I am struggling.

Have you ever won a competition?
Back in the early 1990s I won a Casio keyboard from the Big Bash event that was held in Birmingham for kids. A then little known Zoe Ball told me the answer and I won a £50 keyboard which for a little kid was amazing!! It was so much fun as you could follow the light and play a tune. So much fun!

What scares you?
My post here explains all my weird phobias! I also did this post which explains some of the anxieties I have started to feel since losing my Mom. Think these posts give a better view!

Who would you most like to go on a dinner date with?
Oooh. Good question! Incredibly shallow and incredibly obvious but David Beckham. Not just to drool but I would love to gain an insight into how it just feel to be -that- famous. And just to link his face. Come on! Tell me you wouldn’t choose him as a date?!??
