National Forest Adventure Farm – THE RETURN

6th September 2014
When we heard that National Forest adventure Farm were having a rather special day – we had to go back and join them. We had such a lovely time on our last visit that I absolutely jumped at the chance to go back on a very important day at the farm. They were only going to go and break the flipping WORLD RECORD!
I was also very excited as we would be able to do a few things we didn’t last time including building a scarecrow!
I was much more prepared this time and took backup in the shape of my Dad & sister to help me out with the girls and I’m so glad I did. When we arrived we went down to see the record breaking scarecrow be put into place and what a sight to behold!

We finally managed to build a scarecrowwwwwww (sorry. I watched Frozen in the week!) Charlie and Grandad really got stuck in and chose his clothes and Charlie drew him a “spooky” face. We were scarecrow 3327 (15 after the World Breaking 3312) and he will be proudly displayed next to the thousands of others! You can still build a scarecrow up until Sunday and all the kids were having such fun – definitely recommend it.

Charlie’s effort
We also caught the Pig Race. It was a hotly contended race in which Babe, George, Percy and Sir Oinks-a-lot all were in the running. Charlie and I backed Sir Oinks-a-lot whereas grandad plumped for George but it was Percy who took the crown. My Dad had never seen a pig race before and thought it was very funny!
We also got time to properly explore the soft play area. Now I honestly would say that this area itself is worth the entry fee. On our last visit we only saw it from above and briefly went into a small corner but we totally underestimated it – there was a small toddler area to the right that I completely missed last time. So glad as found it as the girls absolutely loved it. There was a little wind machine that made the balls “fly” and they were fascinated. It was great as it had high sides so they couldn’t escape as they so often do. Whilst the girls were playing, Charlie got to go on the big slides!
We wimped out of the almost vertical but he absolutely loved the one where you sat on a mat and went down. Think he could happily have spend all day on it!
I’ll leave you with some pics from our day. It’s pretty cool that when Charlie is asked when he goes back to school what he did over the summer he can say he helped and saw a World Record be broken!

Tractor rides hourly – spot the scarecrows!

The World Record Breaking Scarecrow

The running total – record breaking!

Don’t forget you can still build a scarecrow but they also are running SPUD FEST! It’s lovely to get your kids involved in the great outdoors and harvesting crops is always a winner! So if you’re around of a weekend why not drop by and get a free bag of spuds for Sunday lunch!
