What a week in the blogging world it has been! The Daily Fail at it again peddling tripe this time aimed directly at some of the biggest and best bloggers out there. I am always amazed by the reaction throughout the blogging world and afar. This time it went even better with the hashtag #SolidariTEA trending left right and centre, it just proves that snooty middle clarse journos are so out of touch. The internet always wins and is hilarious when doing so. What else have I been loving this week then?
Aside from the Slummy Mummy shizzle, I haven’t really done much reading this week. I have decided it’s time to dig out my library card and get back down the library. With more time on my hands, I should start reading instead of frittering hours away staring at my phone screen.
I must mention Steph Nimmo from Was This The Plan? I have read snippets of Steph’s posts but on Wednesday evening I sat and was engrossed by this utterly amazing lady. It was a privilege to read of all about her utterly beautiful daughter Daisy. Their journey as a family has been an incredibly tough one which saw her lose her husband to cancer a year before losing Daisy. Steph and her children are absolutely amazing and her writing is always so positive and written so perfectly. I sobbed my heart out reading the eulogy Steph read at her daughter Daisy’s funeral; so poignantly beautiful. She is releasing a book in September and I know it’ll without a shadow of doubt be one I will be buying. (I don’t think I’ve ever even tweeted Steph but I was so moved by it all I felt I really should share her blog here – please do read it)
I am so desperately trying to get into 13 Reasons Why but I don’t know, I just can’t connect with the main characters. I’ll persevere in the hope something will make me go “ooooh”
I probably shouldn’t admit to this, but Charlie has really gotten into the WWE (WWF to old folk like me) and it’s taken me back to my youth. I absolutely LOVED the wrestling as a kid and it’s really brought back some memories. I found out some old documentaries about some of my favourites but it was the Bret Hart one where he got completely shafted by Vince that I really enjoyed watching. I have such odd tastes – on one hand I am so girly and loves all Disney and princesses, yet I am more than happy to watching boxing, darts and wrestling! Classy bird me!
This vlog by Natasha Bailie also tickled me in response to the slummy mummy debacle. Don’t watch with little ones around!
Her channel in general is ruddy hilarious, so go check her out.
My best friend had her baby in the wee hours of Sunday. I got to meet the gorgeous little chappy on Monday and I forgot what cute little noises they make. He is so dinky yet was bigger than all of my babies. You really forget how tiny babies are. He was making the cutest little cat cries. I am so looking forward to seeing him grow and get oodles of snuggles.
We went to my friends 30th birthday party last week and she had a live band who played LOADS of old music; think motown era. It was fab! My Mom always used to play motown songs so it was lovely to have a dance to them all Helped by the fact I’d glugged copious amounts of booze as we were child free.
I was sent this uber lush Emma Bridgewater radio this week so have had a bit of Smooth FM on to accompany cooking. I’ve been given a discount code to get £50 off any Hepburn Mk II radio if you are looking to treat yourself. Enter TWIN50 at the checkout before 31/5/17 to get a whopping £50 which is a third of the price. Get in!
Can we all take a moment to appreciate that I actually took a photo of something I wore! Before you all lose your minds at this achievement, can we also skirt over the fact I have blobbed my nail varnish and pretend that my three year olds did it (Probably would have made a better job!)
These are my bargain £4 sandals from Primark. I got them in a size bigger but am regretting it now they’ve given a little. However I bought three pairs of the ruddy things so I will just go with it. These denim ones are gorgeous and I also have a red and leopard pair. £4 is an absolute steal, just hoping they don’t drop to bits in a week!
I’ve made a really effort to sort myself out this week. I have gotten back on the healthy eating wagon and forced myself to the gym twice. I also treated myself to having my nails done for the first time in ages and also got my hair cut. My hair is one thing I can never be arsed with. I never bother styling or anything and I hate having it cut. It’s just the thought of staring at myself in a mirror for ages doesn’t appeal.
The girls birthday is just under three weeks away, so my husband had an afternoon off so we popped to Merry Hill to make a start on shopping for them. We got them each a bike and I was astounded at the prices for kids bikes! We got them a cheapy one as I don’t know how much they’ll actually use them but I really want them to learn. We also popped to the Disney Store and got some Lion Guard bits as they are obsessed. I stood lusting over the Lucifer teddy and dropped LOTS of hints to my husband about how much I need one.
I am off to Manchester with my friend tomorrow ahead of the Blog On conference on Sunday I am super excited to catch up with some old pals and also meet lots that I’ve been talking to forever but never actually seen in the flesh. If you see me, say hi and I promise I will cover up my botched toe nail job.
Until next week…toodles!
