It is under three weeks until we set off for our trip to Disneyland Paris. To say I’m excited is quite the understatement. I’ve been busy buying Disney clothes and planning our days I can’t quite believe how fast it has one round.
Ever since I was a little girl crying at Dumbo and dreaming of being Cinderella as I clip clopped around our living room in my Mom’s baby blue high heels, Disney has been such a favourite and special part of my life. I don’t think I realised how special until we booked our holiday.
It is so wonderful to look back on your childhood and have so many lovely memories attributed to films, dolls, teddies or memorabilia. I can remember clear as day when my Mom took me to see Beauty and the Beast at the cinema in town. We walked across the park and I remember sitting in the upstairs screen eating sweets which we rarely did and falling in love with beautiful Belle.
Neither my husband or I have ever been to a Disney park and in reality we have no idea what to expect. I’ve spent so much time researching, reading reviews, watching videos and pouring over photos – it just seems so magical. I’m not naive enough to think it’s all going to be glitter and sparkles as with three kids there isn’t going to be instant harmony as we walk through the gates, but it’s going to be precious family time. With a husband that works away, it means so much and I know that Charlie is still of an age to get the Disney dream. I know I’m going to revert to being that little girl who was mesmerised and in love with it all. You’re never too old to love Disney!
I cannot wait to go and I’ll be savouring it all – good and bad!
