Over the summer we were sent a range of Ben and Holly goodies as we were chosen as Official Ben and Holly ambassadors. I remember Charlie watching Ben and Holly when he was younger and thinking how funny Nanny Plum was, so I was pleased when the girls also took a liking to it.
We were sent a huge bundle of fabulous goodies to try out.
The Ben and Holly rucksack came at the right time with the girls off to nursery. It’s a good size that fits easily on the girls back. The outside is waterproof too making it handy with England’s notorious weather! I can easily fit the girls lunchbox and jackets in here. The straps are adjustable and there’s a pocket at the front for extra storage. The bag has an RRP of £10 which is a reasonable price for a character bag.
We also received the DVD which runs for approximately 121 minutes. It includes 10 episodes plus a bonus episode. Our DVD has made it’s way to Grandad’s house so they can watch their favourite show when at his as he doesn’t have any kids TV channels.
The girls absolutely LOVED the figurines we were sent. They turned three in June and are at the stage where they absolutely love making up imaginary role plays. With two of them, they are able to really create a story between them and it was lovely to watch and hear! The figures also come with a little green board which enables them to stand up unsupported which is really handy to create a scene.
They also loved the Ben and Holly carry cases, Ben’s come with his trademark horn, a treasure map, treasure chest with “gold” and a compass. P2 absolutely loved pretending to be Ben Elf and doing the parp on the horn! P1 is the girlier of the two so she was enamoured with Holly’s carry case which included a crown headband, a wand and necklace. These also make handy storage cases. The clip on the top is a little difficult to open and close but it starting to give a bit over time. These cases at priced at £12.99 which I think it excellent value and would make a super Christmas present as they look good and have fun treats inside.
P1’s favourite was Silly Spells Holly. She is a soft toy who makes spells when you wave her wand. We especially like the Jelly one!
She has a soft body and comes with batteries included (phew) but she does need 3xAAA batteries which is useful to note for the future. Holly has three different spells which I personally found wasn’t very many and got a tad repetitive, especially given that she is £24.99 however P1 didn’t seem to mind and loved cuddling her and pretending to do magic with her.
P2’s favourite was the Elf Rocket and I have to admit this was my favourite too. The rocket comes with Ben in a space suit as he’s ready and raring to go on his adventures into space, just like on the episode. The rocket has a carry handle which makes it easy for the kids to carry around. It has take off and landing sound effects and also four phrases and the jelly rotates at the bottom as the best rockets are always powered on jelly! The rocket also has a torch light at the bottom and made for lots of imaginary play when we doubled with the five figurines we were sent. Gaston even got blasted into space which the girls LOVED! I would add that I found that the door did come off a little too easily so make sure it really is clicked into place. The rocket has an RRP of £19.99 and was launched this summer. I think it’s an essential for any Ben and Holly fan along with the rest of this fun, affordable range.
