Ah summer in England. The most unpredictable of seasons we have; one minute it is glorious sunshine and we are melting in a heat wave then a few days later you’re contemplating sticking the heating on! Knowing what to wear is just as much of a nightmare as you know if you don shorts and t-shirts you’ll probably get caught in a torrential downpour later in the afternoon. It really is a minefield!
When you’re heading out for the day with kids, you never know what to take given you can experience all four seasons in an afternoon so a lightweight jacket is always a winner. It can be folded up nice and small and popped in the bottom of a rucksack which is exactly what we were looking for when trying to find Charlie a nice jacket.
He is seven and a half now and is really into football; not just playing the whole shebang as he is forever watching Sky Sports news and reading various footy magazines to get the latest on all the players. With all this exposure, he’s starting to form idols and really starting to want to emulate the players from the pages. He started when he wanted what I as a fuddy duddy Mom would call a “trendy haircut” where it was shaved and kept longer on the top; this is just like Aguero apparently!
When House of Fraser very kindly offered to send him a jacket from their kids clothes range, he took his time making his decision. He’s not really aware of brands as such but he was drawn to this Bench jacket as he liked the retro style and it zipped up like a football training top.
It has two outer pockets with a hood. The material is a lightweight waterproof exterior (which was tested when it started chucking it on our walk, good old British summertime weather hey?) and a breathable netted interior which doesn’t make you too hot. It has an orange zip in the middle that goes up to the top. I love the retro green, blue and white colours with a splash of orange on the zip and logo.
The jacket can be machined washed and looks super stylish for your young tweenager. Charlie just loves the jacket and I think it’s going to be perfect to take out and about during the summer but also when the early autumn kicks in and he needs an extra layer for the chillier mornings.
The jacket is currently in the sale priced £27 which for a well known quality brand is excellent value. Charlie had an age 11-12 (he is so incredibly tall for his age!) Overall, I am really impressed with the jacket. He loves it and it provides a good quality feel and definitely can keep him dry if he’s caught in any showers.
Why not head over to House of Fraser and have a look for a bargain before they go back to school.
